As journalists we follow a code ethics that our work should tell the truth as accurately as possible, do no harm, and present a balanced, impactful story that leaves nothing out. We treat every aspect of each frame as critical.
No matter the subject, whether in front of a hut or teaked desk, our goal is the same. We seek to cover every angle, fill each frame to it's four corners with details and moments crucial to gaining true insight and understanding.
In filmmaking, back when actual film was used, the phrase "Cirtitical Ends Save Tail" was marked on a can of film alerting the lab that the roll contained no waste, every frame was needed.
I've turned that warning into our goal and we strive for to make every frame necessary, and everything in that frame intentionally to purposeful serve the project. I have always viewed my work as a privledge, there are certainly harder and less interesting things to do with your day, but with that privledge comes a solemn responsibility,
We're caretakers, entrusted to tell someone's story, quite often, when they're at a difficult time in their life.
